Don't have a copy unfortunately, just picked this one up myself. Intimidation Jim (Pedigree Scum) had first recorded this one for me before I could find a copy, it's pretty good midpaced punk on the Next Wave label. I remember seeing something else on the Next Wave label as well, but can't for the life of me recall what it was. It is of course the same 7" that is sometimes called the "Frenzie" ep or the "Black Horse" ep, for the other songs on it. don't forget that many of the copies had the track "Black Horse" scratched out - one of their best tunes in my humble opinion - due to a lawsuit (?) I think from the owners of the Black Horse Tavern who weren't too pleased with the song, which tears them a new one... -Carl p.s. anyone know if there was ever an insert with this 7"?

Why they call it the Black Mass ep in the Burning Britain book is a mystery as Black Mass is the b-side to the American Dream 7" and there's only 2 tracks on it so it's not an ep either. The American Dream 7" can be picked up cheap, I got mine for 99p, not that long ago either. The other band on the Next Wave label were Fly On The Wall who released only one 7" single.

The Black Horse EP, Frenzie EP or even The Cult Maniax EP has 4 tracks on it. Pick this one up if you can at all costs as it is a classic!!! The owner of the Black Horse Tavern banned punks from drinking in his pub for no reason apparently. When he heard this record which clearly calls him a nazi and his wife a Jew he went crazy, police were called in and the band were ordered to destroy what copies of the record they had left. Some copies escaped intact with all 4 tracks others ended up with the Black Horse track scratched out making this one song only on the ep unplayable The band must have sat for hours with a blade digging deep into the wax on that one song the other three tracks play fine. Looks like they got it mixed up in the Burning Britain book as like as you guys already pointed out the track Black Mass is the b-side to American Dream 7".......
Recently there was a copy of the American Dream 7" on ebay with a photo copied black and white sleeve which looked quite well done (Carl you seen this one to) Now a sleeve on this one is very strange indeed as a mate of mine has a Cult Maniax fanzine from the early 80's (it's been years since I last saw it) and it cleary states that no sleeves were issued for this one. I've only ever really seen a few copies of this for sale over the years and none had any sleeve at all. Record dealers seem to sell it cheap as they think the sleeve is lost.
I've got the band on video playing a live gig from 1984 and it's awesome!!! One of my favourite 80's bands

I'm sure that's the guy who won the last copy as it looks like the very same copy that sold last time. Me thinks the buyer aint happy with it for some reason. Unless of course he made photo copy of the sleave to stick on his old one to re-sell and get some ££ back? ?

It does state the ps is a 'xerox of very limited ps' meaning hes photocopied the one hes won and made a ps for his old one. Maybe the bidders haven't picked up on that fact or they're dumb enough to pay 25 quid for a photocopy sleeve.....bloody hell, even i could knock up a half decent sleeve by cropping the image in the ebay listing....

I had a look through my old junk and found a letter I got from Big Al 20 odd years ago, inside were some information sheets about the band. This is what they had to say about the 'American dream' 7".......
'3rd release was American dream & Black mass problems began no sleeve to this single as the band lost it at a gig, their was not enough time to do another one'
So I dunno whether the first one on ebay is an original band made sleeve or not. It looks like just about the most basic cut'n'paste sleeve i've ever seen and well below the standard of their other sleeves....maybe it was made up by one of the band members afterwards for some friends or possibly put together by a fan but I doubt i'd be risking my cash solely on the word of an ebay seller who says he got it from the band.
