I got this email this morning from a guy in the USA:
=====================
Nidge died last night. He was drunk after a show and tried to cross a major highway in Texas. He was hit by a truck. Death was instantaneous.
=====================
Ive not found anything on the news for Austin, Texas - he died after the gig there, but here's a couple of myspace bulletins:
=====================
It is with great sorrow I announce the passing of Nidge Blitz. Details are scarse right now but apparently Nidge was trying to cross a small highway in Austin after their show last night. He was struck by a truck and I believe death was instantaneous. A tragic loss. Blitz put up on hell of a show for us and myself and everyone at Street Level Booking regrets his death.
=====================
Had the worst type of news yesterday when i was informed that Nidge from Blitz was, following Friday nights show hit by a car and killed.
I got this news while i was online in my dual role at the SOS Records myspace page and i would like to extend my thanks to J Ortiz at Deadgift Entertainment for the respectful manner he handled the news as the band were due to play a show in McAllen Saturday night.
Naturally there have been lots of posts on myspace bulletins already with the news and on behalf of myself,the band and everyone associated,we of course are thinking of Nidges family and friends at this time.
=====================
I never met Nidge, but his music has influenced me so much over the years. I really was hoping to meet him some day, but I guess I never will.
RIP mate.
